He is hyperthyroid, but his condition is well controlled with medication.
He wants attention he mews, he wants you to carry him to his litter box or food bowl he mews (and yes i have discovered he does it so you will actually pick him up and take him to it), hes tired he mews, he even mews/meows when just exploring and playing. This is especially true as they transition from a kitten to a cat. You have had good advise but i'd like to add that if to you want your kitten to meow to you, you need to talk to her.

There is a difference between a kitten meowing from the time he moves into his new home to a usually quiet kitten who suddenly becomes vocal, the latter could be due to either sickness (some cats can meow more when they’re not feeling well), or if you have a female cat, she could have come into heat. Don’t punish a cat for meowing. It might be time to go to the vet.
